Exam types

There are two types of IELTS exams: IELTS Academic and IELTS General.

The type of IELTS exam that a person takes – and the degree that he/she needs to obtain – depends on the conditions determined by the authority that asks you to take the exam, and they differ according to the purpose of the exam and differ from one side to another.

The Academic and General IELTS exams agree on the speaking and listening parts of the exam, but they differ in the subject matter of the reading and writing exam.

IELTS in Oxford

The free workshop to introduce the IELTS exam is a two-hour working session, provided by an IELTS expert for people who wish to take an international exam in the English language for the purposes of study, immigration, travel, or work in the countries that require them to take the IELTS exam.

The free introductory workshop aims to introduce the importance of the IELTS exam and its advantages, and the workshop helps the participants to better understand the requirements for passing the IELTS exam and the assessment criteria.

It also aims to encourage those wishing to pass the IELTS exam to improve their English language skills through continuous training and practice, as well as the participants’ readiness to start the preparatory course or take training courses that help participants prepare for the exam.

The workshop is usually held on the last Saturday of every month at the headquarters of the Oxford International Academy or at one of the centers accredited by Oxford in Jordan, and contact is made with the registrants of the workshop to determine the place and time of its establishment.

People who wish to travel to an English-speaking country for secondary education, work, or training purposes.

Persons who wish to study at a university, institute or higher education institution in which study is conducted in the English language.

The participation fee for the preparatory workshop is 10 dinars for students participating in one of the preparation courses for the IELTS exam at Oxford Academy, and 15 dinars for non-academic students.

Oxford International Academy has been specialized since its establishment in 1999 to provide the preparation course for the IELTS exam, although it is not an approved exam center for this exam, but it is considered one of the distinguished training institutions that have contributed to the success of thousands of exam takers through the preparatory courses for approved international exams.

The IELTS test consists of four exams, three of which (reading, writing and listening) are usually taken on one day, while the speaking test is usually taken on another day. Before or after 7 days from the date of the rest of the IELTS exams, according to the information provided to you by the test center.

What are the fees for the IELTS test in Jordan?

  • The fee for the IELTS test is 165 Jordanian dinars

  • The fee for changing the exam date is 30 Jordanian dinars

  • The fee for inquiring about results is 75 Jordanian dinars (in case of requesting a review of the exam after correction)

IELTS practice test

It is an exam similar to the actual exam and puts you in the same conditions. It is offered through the Internet via the Oxford Academy website, and aims to identify your strengths and weaknesses in preparation for the actual IELTS exam.

Book an appointment for the speaking exam

Exam registration

You can register for the exam with any of the exam providers in Jordan electronically, and it is preferable to book the exam two months before the date you wish to take the exam, so that you can find the appropriate reservation.

When registering for the exam, you are asked to enter the official identity document, which is the same document and not any other document that will be approved for the purposes of entering the exam.

During registration, you can request that (5) copies of your IELTS test result be sent electronically to the institutions you want (such as universities and professional bodies, Oxford Academy), to be delivered within a period of one month from the date of taking the IELTS exam, and this service is free

After you fill out the electronic registration application, you need to review the exam provider to pay the exam fees within three days of registering for the exam. You can also fill out the registration application on paper and pay the fees at the exam provider’s headquarters.
